                "biography": "Honor\u00e9 Guilbeau was a printer, illustrator, ceramist, and decorative artist active in Ohio from the 1930s to the 2000s. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Guilbeau studied at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1926 to 1930, where she met her husband Edmund \u201cBuck\u201d Cooke. The couple moved to Cleveland in 1931, where Guilbeau became involved with the Cleveland Print Makers and contemporary dance scene. In 1932, the artist won a Logan Prize at the Art Institute\u2019s Third International Exhibition of Lithography and Wood Engraving; that same year, she won first prize in lithography at the Cleveland Museum of Art\u2019s May Show and began producing work for the Print-A-Month series. Over the next decade, Guilbeau exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Grand Rapids Museum of Art. She also designed costumes and sets for Cleveland\u2019s Federal Theater for Youth, an organization overseen by the Works Progress Administration. In 1939, Guilbeau and her family moved to a farm in Peninsula, Ohio, where she began illustrating children\u2019s books and teaching at the Akron Art Institute. The artist continued to participate in community theater and was a founding member of the Peninsula Library in 1943, for which she later created a wall mosaic in 1964. Beginning in the mid-1930s and continuing throughout her life, Guilbeau visited Mexico to learn new ceramic and glazing techniques and frequently depicted the country in her art. She continued creating across multiple media until her passing in 2006 after a full life of ninety-nine years.",
