In this case, the copper was then gilded and polished. This type of enameling is still done today, mostly for jewelry and decorative items. wall description: This plaque depicts the last events in the life of the 3rd-century Roman martyr Saint Lawrence. On the left, the Roman emperor Decius hands Lawrence his death warrant. On the right, Lawrence is bound to a gridiron as two torturers hold him down. An angel appears, ready to receive his soul into heaven. --- RELATED WORKS --- CITATIONS The Cleveland Museum of Art. The Cleveland Museum of Art Handbook.
