Before the lion can attack, the deer and the gazelle step in and council him to receive the Brahman kindly. The Brahman has wandered into the wilderness after losing all of his wealth, but the lion gifts him an immense treasure. wall description: Driven by poverty, a Brahman left home to seek his fortune and came upon a wilderness ruled by a lion. The lion’s gentle advisors, a spotted deer and a blackbuck, dissuaded him from devouring the man. They told the lion that if he instead were to give the Brahman the riches left in his territory by previous travelers—who presumably died there—then this Brahman would spread the lion’s reputation as a generous and magnanimous monarch. --- RELATED WORKS --- CITATIONS --- IMAGES web: https://openaccess-cdn.clevelandart.org/1962.279.150.a/1962.279.150.a_web.jpg print: https://openaccess-cdn.clevelandart.org/1962.279.150.a/1962.279.150.a_print.jpg full: https://openaccess-cdn.clevelandart.org/1962.279.150.a/1962.279.150.a_full.tif
