wall description:
By 1902, Cassatt had been living for almost a decade at her country home in the village of Mesnil-Théribus, about 50 miles northwest of Paris. She often asked neighbors to pose for her, as they seemed more at ease than professional models. The young mother, Reine Lefèbvre sat repeatedly between 1901 and 1903, appearing in this drypoint as well as Reine and Margot Seated on a Sofa and portraits in pastel and oil. Her pretty, rounded face and glossy black hair are immediately recognizable in each work for which she posed.
