This painting belongs to a series of large still lifes of 1928–32, notable for their rich surfaces and colors. Braque’s constant experimentation with unusual materials and techniques is evident in the matte, textured surfaces, created by mixing paint with sand and applying it over tactile gesso. --- RELATED WORKS --- CITATIONS Cleveland Museum of Art, “Recent Acquisition Press Release,” September 9, 1975, Cleveland Museum of Art Archives. page number: url: https://archive.org/details/cmapr2291 The Cleveland Museum of Art.
