After becoming Chevalier de le Légion d'honneur in 1849, his work shifted from landscapes to the painting of animals, often with laborers. His later landscapes of Normady were an influence on the Impressionists. --- measurements: Sheet: 26.7 x 36.6 cm (10 1/2 x 14 7/16 in.); Secondary Support: 35.5 x 45.2 cm (14 x 17 13/16 in.) state of the work: edition of the work: support materials: description: cream(1) wove paper, perimeter mounted to a false margin of yellow-beige wove paper watermarks: inscriptions: inscription: signed, lower right, in orange gouache: C Troyon ; VERSO, upper left, in graphite: [illegibel, masked] ; lower right, in graphite: URGENT / 3 x 3 1/2 PEARL / 2 1/2 ÷ 4 [w ?] / PROPORTIONAL / Cream / [illegible, crossed out] trim to[illegible, masked] / [illegible] side / SPECIAL 4 W translation: remark: --- CURRENT EXHIBITIONS title: Year in Review: 1978 opening date: 1979-02-13T05:00:00 Year in Review: 1978.
