CREATORS

* Jean-Alphonse Duplessy (French, 1817–after 1872)  - artist
Duplessy's life and career are largely obscure. He was trained by Jean-Auguste Dubouloz (1800-1870), a former pupil of Gros (q.v.). Two of Duplessy's still lifes were accepted at the Salon of 1865, and he continued to exhibit there until 1872. No further biographical information is available beyond this date. In addition to his still lifes, he painted some interiors, but in all, few of his works are known.
