* Günter Grass (German, 1927–2015) - artist
Born Oct. 16, 1927, in the semiautonomous region then known as the Free City of Danzig, which came under Nazi control in 1939. It is now the Baltic Sea port of Gdansk, Poland. He died on April 13, 2015 at a hospital in Luebeck, Germany. He was 87.
