"description": "Lichtenstein studied printmaking while a student at The Ohio State University in 1948 and was adept at lithography, etching, and woodcut. He experimented using various colored papers and printed his woodcuts by hand, so that each impression is somewhat different. Starting in 1952, Lichtenstein explored the theme of cowboys and Indians in woodcut, printing only a few impressions of each. The artist lived in Cleveland at the time, enabling the shrewd local collector Henry Steinberg to acquire some of these rare, early, witty prints when they were made.",
