In the late 1970s, he made a series of images of Versailles that bear the influence of his predecessor, Eugène Atget.
Born in Marcq en Baroeul, Requillart was educated at the Pension Saint Joseph, Arras (1955-62), and the École Supérieure de Publicité, Tournai, Belgium (1962-69). He began to photograph extensively in 1968, working in and around Paris on freelance projects until 1979, when he turned to painting as his primary medium for creative expression. He has won several awards, including a Prix des Communautées Européenes, Photokina, Cologne (1968), the Grand Prix from the Festival d'Arles (1976), and fellowships from the Foundation Nationale de la Photographie, Lyons (1980), and the Ministry of Culture, Paris (1985). His work has been published in the exhibition catalogues 3 Jeune Photographes (1976), Photographie Actuelle en France (1976), and Jeune Photographes Français (1978). Requillart has had one-artist exhibitions at the Musée Nationale d'Art Moderne, Paris (1978), and the Centre National de Photographie, Paris (1986). He lives in Paris. A.W.",
