Colonel Alfred Capel-Cure British, 1826-1896

Alfred Capel-Cure was a nephew of the talented amateur photographer and watercolorist Robert Henry Cheney. Instructed by Cheney in 1852 in the art of photography, Capel-Cure is known to have printed from his uncle's negatives in 1859-60. He was active throughout the 1850s, photographing architectural subjects in England, Gibraltar, and France. A colonel in the British army, Capel-Cure served from 1844-67 and was wounded in Redan in September 1855 during the Crimean War. T.W.F.
