"description": "Gabriele M\u00fcnter was a founding member of Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider), a German Expressionist group formed in Munich in 1911. In July 1915, after the outbreak of World War I, she moved to neutral Sweden. In early 1917, she painted several portraits of Gertrude Holz, a friend and her preferred model of the time, each expressing a different mood. Future (Woman in Stockholm) belongs to this series. Although it was a time of financial hardship and professional uncertainty for M\u00fcnter, the bouquet of tulips, sunlight streaming into the interior, and vibrant palette seem to suggest the hope of spring.",
