"From Rembrandt to Rauschenberg: Recently Acquired Prints." --- PROVENANCE --- fun fact: digital description: wall description: Following President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963, Andy Warhol made a series of prints and paintings depicting First Lady Jacqueline before and after the tragic event. Many of these works were made using screenprint, a technique that could directly reproduce photographic images from newspapers and magazines. The cropped image seen here focuses on Jackie’s facial expression and emotion. Warhol was one of the first artists to adopt screenprint, a technique associated with commerce, to suggest the repetition of images in media and their ubiquity throughout American culture. --- RELATED WORKS --- CITATIONS --- IMAGES
