The hinges between panels were breaking, there were large tears through the panels, the pigment was flaking, and there was a great deal of wax splattered across the painting surfaces. As the museum is now one of six institutions in North America with a conservation studio specializing in the care of Asian paintings, the screen is currently undergoing extensive treatment to repair these issues so that it might finally be displayed.", "has_conservation_images": true, "cover_accession_number": null, "is_nazi_era_provenance": false, "impression": null, "alternate_titles": [], "is_highlight": false, "updated_at": "2026-03-27 00:10:39.328000" } }
