PROVENANCE
The clock is reputed to have been commissioned by Louis XVI as part of a series to be given away as diplomatic gifts. Later, it was purchased around 1820 in Washington, DC, in a sale of the collection of the ambassador of Spain to the United States. From thence it descended in the family of Dorothy Draper, noted American interior designer, to Dr. Harvey Buchanan
