The carpet draped over the railing\rin front of her indicates to viewers that the person\ris a member of the royal family. The rulers of small\rkingdoms adopted the Mughal practice of locating\rthe emperor in the jharokha window and expanded\rit to include other members of the royal household.\rThey also adopted the Mughal taste for scalloped\rarches, swirling arabesque flowering-vine motifs,\rand images of flowering plants on the carpet. Her\roversized eye emphasizes the importance of seeing\rand being seen.",
