fun fact:
One of Davidson’s best-known series, Brooklyn Gang was inspired by a news story he read about a teenage gang called the Jokers.
digital description:
Here, some of the Jokers hang out in front of Helen’s Candy Store, which was located on their block and served as a neighborhood community center, soda fountain, and newsstand. It also had a pay phone. It was the Jokers’ home away from home.
